Le mele sono un frutto invernale composte principalmente da carboidrati e acqua, con zuccheri semplici ma con un basso indice glicemico. Sono ricche di fibre e ogni mela apporta circa 95 kcal. Per quanto riguarda i macronutrienti questo frutto contiene molte vitamine tra qui, B1, B2, B3, Folati e le vitamine A e C, infine il potassio.
Le mele sono molto benefiche per la salute in quanto favoriscono la perdita di peso, aiutano a controllare la glicemia e prevengono il diabete, riducono il colesterolo e hanno un effetto anti-asma.
